“It takes a lot of courage to grow up, and become who you really are” – E.E. Cummings
From a young age, I always new there was more to life than what meets the eye. I was always an adventurous kid, exploring nature, building a thirst for travel, and finding new ways to move my body and keep fit. I loved to connect with people on religion and spirituality, trying new ad foods (and diets!), and trying to work out ways I could keep fit and healthy.
“I had one of those light-bulb moments and realised that although I was in fact living the life I had always dreamed; I was anything but happy” – M.E.
After working in the fashion industry for over a decade, I had one of those light-bulb moments and realised that although I was in fact living the life I had always dreamed; I was anything but happy. And healthy? Well… my addiction to fitness and balancing my calories in was taking not just on my frail frame, but on my social life, love life and self worth. It was then that I decided to quit life as I knew it, and chase a life less ordinary.
5 years later, 20 kilo’s of luggage has followed me halfway around the world and let my imagination explore the reality of life from a new perspective.
I trained at Satyananda Yoga Ashram’s, learned some Muay Thai, tried a bunch of natural remedies for ill health, got into interesting spiritual practices, checked into a detox retreat, learned to surf [badly – but I still hope to improve], worked at yoga retreats, studied ancient Indian philosophy’s, backpacked solo through intrepid parts of the world, did a month of INTENSE Kundalini yoga meditation, lived as a minimalist, tried my hand at tantra, completed my 200 hours of Hatha Yoga training, gained qualifications in health & fitness, did loads of yoga all over the world, went to a bunch of health workshops, read up on natural health and through my own illness, learned a LOT about nutrition.
With all that knowledge, I created my own business teaching people how to move their bodies in fun flows, intense intervals, build up some #selflove and fuel themselves with foods that made them feel fit and healthy.
Now, I’m taking 5 months off to travel NEW parts of the world, and gain some GREAT inspiration from the ‘Wellness Warriors’ that scatter the earth. I find out HOW they got started, WHERE they get their inspiration, WHY they keep pushing their limits, WHO they work with and WHAT their best advice for budding new wellness guru’s is.
My journey to becoming who I am isn’t just a solo journey anymore, it’s one that I want to share with the world and make you ponder the question of who YOU are. Because we all know, that in this day and age, it takes a hell of a lot of courage to grow up and BECOME that person.
